Discovery:

A violet-colored quartz vein is discovered during quarry work, but no great significance is attached to it at the time.

Scientific excavations:

The Krahuletz Society in Eggenburg carries out scientific excavations and unearths impressive amethyst finds.

May 1999

Foundation:

Maissauer Amethyst GesmbH is founded to market Maissau as an amethyst town for tourism.

World of experience:

After it became clear during soil investigations how huge the amethyst deposit in Maissau is, the decision was made to dedicate a separate world of experience to the precious stone

Groundbreaking ceremony:

Governor Dr. Erwin Pröll performs the ground-breaking ceremony for Amethyst Welt .

Opening:

In February, the newly created world of experience was officially opened by Governor Dr. Erwin Pröll.

Gemstone house:

The Gemstone House opened its doors for the first time in 2012 as an additional exhibition space with modern showrooms.

Gold panning plant:

Another highlight for children and families has been created directly in front of the entrance to the popular treasure digging area in the form of a weatherproof gold panning facility.

Special anniversary exhibition:

Under the title "Brilliant Waldviertel - gemstones from Lower Austria's treasure trove", the special exhibition to mark the tenth anniversary of the Gemstone House showcased the most incredible gemstone finds from local soil.

Austria's first and only chakra ball track will open as a new attraction in the middle of the Amethyst Park at Whitsun 2024.
