AMETHYST RUN IN MAISSAU

In 2026, the LURS Maissau branch of the sports club will host the Amethyst Run for the first time, with the start and finish at the “Amethystwelt ” in Maissau.

After 20 successful events in the city, it’s time to explore new horizons. The varied routes around the “ Amethyst Welt ” offer the perfect setting for a unique running experience.

The races are open to everyone —from recreational runners to ambitious athletes to Nordic walkers.

Whether you're 6 or 80+, everyone is warmly invited to join us and enjoy a day of sports together in Maissau!

This running event is also part of both the Schmidatal and Waldviertel Running Cups.

The varied course winds around the Maissau Lake (Amethyst Welt ) on forest and gravel trails. A special highlight awaits participants in the outdoor area of the Amethyst Run ( Amethystwelt): The race takes runners along the unique Chakra Trail, making the Amethyst Run a truly special experience for athletes.

A colorful program in the historic downtown area

On November 21 and 22, 2026, the historic downtown area of Eggenburg will be transformed into a festive Advent setting. Admission is free.

Around the main square, visitors can enjoy a diverse Advent market featuring regional handicrafts, Christmas tree decorations, pastries, roasted chestnuts, and mulled wine. A varied program of events—including concerts, readings, workshops, and craft demonstrations—creates a special atmosphere both outdoors and in the historic indoor spaces.

On Sunday, the popular themed city tours titled “Christmas in the Middle Ages” will also take place.
